Working with Dan has changed everything for my son! Post covid, I was initially looking for someone to help us figure out where both kids were in terms of reading and math and if we might benefit from specific intervention. Dan assessed my son and built a plan to help him get on track for his grade level. He is progressing beautifully with reading and math! Most notable to me, he has helped my son gain confidence in his own academic abilities. This has translated to so many parts of his life. My daughter is benefitting from an enrichment curriculum with Dan. She absolutely loves her time with him playing math games, writing stories, and working on her social-emotional learning. Dan told us if he wasn't an educational therapist, he probably would have pursued therapy as a career. That is evident in all that he does. His ability to connect with kids is so unique. He is funny, kind, engaging, and honest with the kids about his own struggles. He is so relatable! He has taught both of my children so much when it comes to emotions and feelings and how to manage them. I will forever be grateful to Dan for igniting a true love of learning for my children and for helping them be the best versions of themselves. He is a keeper!

Our son was lucky enough to have Dan Bean as his second-grade teacher during the 2020-21 school year. Dan was able to provide stability for our second graders during the confusing times of the pandemic, providing organization, routine, kindness, and showing extreme flexibility in navigating in-person as well as hybrid learning. On a personal level, our son is shy and often needs extra support from math to reading. In Dan's class, we saw him truly blossom this year. He went from an insecure reader who felt emotional at the idea of sharing his reading or writing; to a child who was confident and would offer to read out loud, share his writing, and contribute to conversations around him. Dan saw our son's light and helped him reflect that to the world through gentle encouragement and mutual respect. Our son says Dan Bean is his favorite teacher "of all time", and I have no doubt he will carry this with him throughout his life.

I thought you'd love this. I brought (our third grader) to her younger brother's friend's birthday party, and instead of participating in the activity, she asked me to get her book so she could read! I started crying in her parent-teacher meeting the other day when she said that our daughter loves school and loves learning. I explained that it was 180 degrees from where she was a year ago, and her teacher was shocked and said she couldn't imagine her being any other way. Just another thank you and letting you know we still think of you all the time.

Dan was my daughter's second-grade teacher. He was the perfect combination of patient, caring and inspirational. My daughter learned so much from Dan, and he's one of those teachers you wish you could have every year. Dan's interest in nature as an avid outdoorsman was evident in his teaching and although I am sad that he is moving out of the area, I know that his future students will benefit from his experience and passion! I recommend him without reservation -- any family who encounters Dan as a teacher, tutor, or mentor will find that he is an incredible educator and role model.
