How I relate
When I'm not working
-
I ski raced competitively through high school and college
-
I absolutely love rock climbing outdoors
-
My new passion is backcountry skiing
-
Having dyslexia and ADHD myself, I continue to have challenges that help me relate to my students
-
It is now one of my great pleasures in life to be helping students reclaim their innate joy for learning
Enrichment
Intervention
Especially after the last few Covid-affected years, many students have small gaps in their foundational skills.
I can help your child by:
-
Getting to know them and connecting learning with their passions
-
Playing purposeful learning games
-
Creating meaningful investigations where students learn writing skills from children's literature and where they understand math concepts by discovering and trying out their own math strategies.
-
Using informal assessments to determine where they may be lacking foundational skills and develop a curriculum to best support their growth
Studying as an educational therapist, learning the Orton-Gillingham approach, and having experienced elementary school as a person with learning disabilities, I feel able to offer a lot of support to students with diagnosed or suspected learning challenges and their families.
I can help your child by:
-
Starting with an in-depth intake process that involves parent and child interviews.
-
Communicating with schools and other education professionals who have worked with your child
-
Interpreting past assessments and conducting my own assessments, which will inform my instruction
-
Employing assessments to find strengths that your child can build off of
-
Using picture books and other tools to help explore the emotions that often come with learning challenges
-
Playing learning games and working at their just-right level to help build their sense of competence and confidence
Outdoor adventure and friend groups
It is my absolute pleasure to offer outdoor groups to this community. In these groups, we will be playing games that involve environmental science, outdoor skill-building, and collaborative work with peers. The best way to make these groups happen is for you to gather at least four children and find dates that work for you. I will then be able to let the rest of the community know when the outdoor group is taking place and voila new friends can be made by all. Subscribe below to be on the outdoor adventure group email list.
